Tim Holtz Tags of 2016 - December

As 2016 comes to an end here is another last of the year.  This is my December Tim Tag.
Sine I am not a Christmas person I didn't think this was going to turn out as nice as it did.  I found a pack of stickers in the bag of Christmas embellies and immediately knew this would work.  What love the most is it only took me about 20 minutes once I gathered all my supplies.

OK Tim, I'm ready for 2017 and lots of new techniques and ideas.

Tim Holtz Tags of 2016 - November

This month Tim paired the remnant rub resist and dimensional coloring techniques.

I love the fact that Tim's rub ons resist ink. When you use them you never have to worry that they won't show up because you used a dark ink or stain. I just sprayed my stains onto the tag after applying them, and lightly wiped the excess ink.

For the leaf I used distress markers and a water brush to blend the colors.

Tim Holtz Tags of 2016 - October

Halloween. It's my favorite time of the year. I always look forward to making Tim's Halloween tag. It's the one tag I usually have all the supplies for. This year was no exception.  I even managed to get my hands on some of this years line, which in southern NJ is not an easy feat since there are only big box stores in the area.

Thanks for checking out tag. I hope you like it.

Tim Holtz Tags of 2016 - August

Every year my goal is make the time, no matter how busy I am, to complete my "Tim Tag".  August was one of those busy months, but I did manage to get my tag done.  I would have liked to have had more time to devote to this one, but part of my challenge is to accept that all tags are not created equal, and I'll like some more than others.  Hope you enjoy.

Thanks Tim! I'm looking forward to September.

Tim Holtz Tags of 2016 - July

The two techniques we remixed this month are Watercolor Resist and Layered Words. Both of these techniques are from our 2015 tags.  I enjoyed these techniques than and had a great time mixing them for this month because it's a Halloween theme.

After all it is my favorite holiday....

Tim Holtz Tags of 2016 - June

For this months Remix Tim used the Stencil Plaid and Tissue Wrap Collage techniques which I really enjoyed the first time we did it. I used Tim's Snowflake Duo die and winter colors for my background.  I wanted to keep my tag fairly plain since I didn't want to take away from the snowflakes. I covered the tag with plain blue tissue paper I had in my stash, and inked the edges with Gathered Twigs distress ink.

I'm off the craft room now to catchup on homework for Creative Chemistry.  Hope you like the tag!

Tim Holtz Tags of 2016 - May

I'm really having a good time playing along with Tim this year.  I love that he's using two techniques that were used in past years and mixing them onto one tag. This month Tim remixed the tape resist and tattered floral techniques.

I love how my tag turned out. Certainly an hour well spent.

Thank You Tim. Bring on June!

Tim Holtz Tags of 2016 - April

Woo Hoo! I was one of the winners for the March Tim Tag! How cool is that?!

For this month's tag I really had to improvise since I didn't have any of the main ingredients for either one of the techniques Tim used. Instead of the woodgrain background I used an embossing folder, and I got to use my crayons again. Have I mentioned that I really love these. It's so easy to blend the colors without making them muddy.

Since I don't have the Mosaic Kit I used modeling paste and stuck my paper bits to the bunny and butterfly.  I used glossy accents to coat the paper bits. When they dried I inked both pieces with Gathered Twigs then wiped them off with a soft rag.  Since the glossy accents resisted the ink the paper bits look like the glass you would find in a Mosaic.

Once again Tim has outdone himself.  I loved the Mosaic technique, and can't wait to try it on another project.

Tim Holtz Tags of 2016 - March

I'm in love with Tim's crayons.

This month Tim used them to color the background of his tag. Creating backgrounds using multiple colors is not usually a good experience for me. It means muddy colors and many tries at getting something I'm happy with. These crayons are so easy to work with I was able to create my background in one take.

For the top layer of my tag first I used the black and dark brown crayons. Since I don't have Tim's foil I used bronze paint around the edges, and applied gesso using a palette knife.

Thank you Tim for another great re-mix!

Tim Holtz Tags of 2016 - February

This month's Tim tag remixed the Monoprint (2014) and Embossed Texture Paste (2015) techniques. I made tags using these techniques separately, and I really love the way they look together.

Those of you who know me know that I am not a 'Valentine Day' person. However, every year I consider the February tag a double challenge.  Not only am I challenged by Tim, but I'm challenged to find Valentine 'stuff' in my stash.

I'm considering this month's challenges a success. Bring on March!

Tim Holtz Tags of 2016 - January

It's the start of a new year and this is my first of 12 tags for 2016.

This year Tim is calling his challenge a Technique Remix. For this month our tag was a remix of the Chalkboard & Industrious Metal techniques from 2013 & 2014.

I must admit when I saw this tag I wasn't crazy about it.  It's just not my style, but after getting started I really liked how it was turning out. I did make some modifications, but techniques are the same. A little surprise for me, this tag had me doing the happy dance. Even through this isn't something I would normally do it was fun to learn a new technique.

Thank you Tim for a great start to the new year.
