Inspiration Wednesday 2015 - Week 2

This week Donna's project was a collage. Since collage is not something I usually do it took me a little out of my comfort zone. I always have an issue covering up a layer with something new.

I started with a layer of gesso. When that was dry I added my  painted layer.  After going through my stash to pick out my 'stuff' I decided to take it one layer at a time and just started using matte medium to glue everything down. I didn't glue down the center inclusion as Donna did because I like having the smaller flip page in the middle. I think is adds to the page almost like there  are two pictures in one.

I love the way it turned out.

Inspiration Wednesday 2015

This past year I discovered Donna Downey stamps, and from there her mixed media classes.  For 2015 I'm getting out of my comfort zone and taking on the challenge of art journaling with Donna's Inspiration Wednesday class.  Every other Wednesday for the entire year a new technique will be featured to inspire the artist hiding inside everyone.

This week the I used heavy gesso, stencils, and glazing.  The heavy gesso and glaze were new to me, and I was covered in all of it by the time I was done, but I'm pleased with my first art journal page EVER!

Tim Holtz Tags of 2015 - January

Happy New Year! And, with the new year comes new monthly tag challenge with Tim Holtz. This is the second year I'll be participating in the challenge, and am looking forward to the inspiration and chance to move out of my comfort zone.

This month Tim's tag was perfect to start the New Year.  I didn't have everything Tim used, but that's the fun part.  I get to use his technique, and go through my stash to find other ways to use what I have on hand. For this tag I didn't have the Chit Chat stickers, but what I found was 3 tins with magnetic word stamps and the stamping block to use them with.  I purchased these years ago, and couldn't even tell you where, but they were perfect for this project.

Thanks Tim for another fun tag!
