Tim Holtz Tags of 2016 - May

I'm really having a good time playing along with Tim this year.  I love that he's using two techniques that were used in past years and mixing them onto one tag. This month Tim remixed the tape resist and tattered floral techniques.

I love how my tag turned out. Certainly an hour well spent.

Thank You Tim. Bring on June!

Inspiration Wednesday - Week 10

We've been doing a lot of collaging in our journals, and guess what. I'm starting to love it. I'm just covering those layers without thinking about the fact that I just put that layer down.

This week totally justified making purchases because the item is on sale. Our mission was using two papers that did not match.  The best part was that I got to go through my paper stash for the project.  It was like shopping all over again. I found paper I didn't know existed and I used two of them for these pages. These pages were fairly simple but it was fun finding the materials, and really love how they turned out.

Inspiration Wednesday - Week 9

Layers, layers, and more layers.  That was the theme this week. I'm trying to catch up now I'm back from vacation.  Just in time for Donna's next installment of Inspiration Wednesday.

Inspiration Wednesday Week 8

This week Donna had us using napkins for our journal pages. Since she gave us a heads up in week 7 I was on the look out for the perfect napkin.  Well, I found it in of all places Christmas Tree Shops. Since I am about 30 minutes from Atlantic City we go "Down the shore" quite often. I must admit that while shopping with my friend for her napkin I was tempted by some of the beauties they had in the party store, but I resisted.  I love the way these pages turned out, and had a blast doing them.

Inspiration Wednesday - Week 7

I've really learned to love collaging since I started journaling.  It was always something I had trouble with. Covering up a layer I just put down was hard for me.  Since starting Inspiration Wednesdays layers are now my friend.

Tim Holtz Tags of 2016 - April

Woo Hoo! I was one of the winners for the March Tim Tag! How cool is that?!

For this month's tag I really had to improvise since I didn't have any of the main ingredients for either one of the techniques Tim used. Instead of the woodgrain background I used an embossing folder, and I got to use my crayons again. Have I mentioned that I really love these. It's so easy to blend the colors without making them muddy.

Since I don't have the Mosaic Kit I used modeling paste and stuck my paper bits to the bunny and butterfly.  I used glossy accents to coat the paper bits. When they dried I inked both pieces with Gathered Twigs then wiped them off with a soft rag.  Since the glossy accents resisted the ink the paper bits look like the glass you would find in a Mosaic.

Once again Tim has outdone himself.  I loved the Mosaic technique, and can't wait to try it on another project.

Inspiration Wednesday - Week 6

I'm late posting these pages.  They've been done and I was just occupied with Donna's new class called Abstract Florals. For the next six weeks we're doing floral studies on different substrates including canvas. More on that class in another post.  Onto this weeks Inspiration Wednesday.

I loved creating this journal layout because I got to try the dripping technique again. My last attempt at this did not turn out as well as I wanted, but this one I love. I added the flowers using modeling paste and I painted them when they dried.  Matching up the stencil on the center inclusion was a challenge but well worth the time and effort.

Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy!
