Tim Holtz Tags of 2014 - December

I can't believe this is the last tag of 2014. This was the first time I've participated in Tim's challenge, and I absolutely loved it.  Every month I was able to push my boundaries especially when I didn't have the exact products Tim used.  This month was no exception. Gotta get that prancing deer die....
With that said bring on January!

Change Is Good

My friend Steve discovered butterflies growing in his yard. Not something you get to see everyday.  Being an excellent photographer and a very patient person he was able to take these amazing pictures. Since I've been promising him a piece for his office, and it went perfectly with the quote I found here's what I came up with.

Enjoy!

12 Tags of 2014 - November

Once again Tim's challenge got me thinking.  The only layered die I had was the Butterfly, and it was too big for the tag. I went with a Christmas theme since I really wanted to use this tree die I had.  I love the look using the corrugated cardboard, and the 25 covered in Festive Berries glitter was a perfect touch. OK Tim bring on December...

Tim Holtz Tags of 2014 - October

After missing the August and September challenges I'm back on track. Since Halloween is my favorite holiday I was really looking forward to making this tag.  It was really fun, and I loved all the layers.

By the way, I'm still wondering where those 2 months went.

Tim Holtz Tags of 2014 - July

This month's tag was truly a challenge for me since the only product used that I had was Distress Ink.  I wanted to keep with the sea theme since I want to use the tag for my Little Mermaid pictures form our Disney trip.

Since I had the ink creating my background was easy following Tim's instructions. For the sea life I used the Life's A Beach cartridge from Cricut. I used my distress inks to color them, and added Stickles for a little bling.  I used sandpaper for the ocean floor, and since I didn't have an embossing folder that I liked for bubbles I used Skittles from Double Click Connections. I've had these in my stash haven't used them until now, and I just love the way they look.

Thanks for a great tag Tim! I can't wait for month.

My First Art Show

Every year the Arc of Camden County has an art show to raise funds for the organization.  Since I've created a number of mixed media canvases I donated one to the Arc for the show. The most exciting part for me was that it sold.
For this piece I followed a tutorial from Eclectic Paperie I found this web site purely by accident, and have been in love with it ever since. The ladies on this blog are always posting new techniques to draw inspiration from.  On to my next project….

Tim Holtz Tags of 2014 - June

Wow tag number 6! We're already half way through the year. Where has the time gone. It seems like I just doing my first tag of the new year, and now it's June.
Tim's technique this month has been the most fun so far. I was covered in ink when I was finished and it was so worth it.

Tim Holtz Tags of 2014 - May

This month the tag inspiration is tiling. I must admit when I saw Tim's blog I wasn't crazy about the tag, but I couldn't be more happy with the way my tags turned out. Yes, I made two tags.  They are similar since they are both for a "no wrap" Baby Shower.
It took me most of the afternoon to complete them since the work involved a lot of measuring and cutting tiny pieces, but it really was worth the time.

Tim Holtz Tags of 2014 - April

I've been so busy for the last six weeks making invitations and trying to keep up with my other craft projects that I haven't had a moment to post here.  This week's goal is to get those projects posted here starting with my Tim Holtz April Tag which I got in just in time.
This month's technique was ink marbling. Always something new with Tim…

Enjoy!

I Know It's Early, But...

Halloween is my favorite holiday!  I was inspired by a hat I saw on Pinterest for this project, and it much easier than I thought it would be.  The paper strips are 2x6 inches. I glued them down with Ranger cut and paste, and once it was dry I sealed it with Matte finish Modge Podge.  The decorating was the really fun part because I got to break out my boxes of Halloween embellishments. Yes, boxes! Did mention that Halloween is my favorite holiday?

Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2014 - March

This month I didn't really follow Tim's technique, but I did take the time to be creative. My tag includes layers of distress inks followed by stamps colored with distress markers, for the final layer I spritzed a chevron stencil.  As a final touch I added lace Hem Tape at the top of the tag and green yarn at the bottom. This didn't take long and was really simple.

MCT Monochromatic Color Challenge

I made this card for the My Creative Time challenge.  This time Emma challenged us  to make our card only using shades of one color.  I chose natural white, embossed the front of the card, and added diamond stickles to the embossing.  Then I added the Happy Birthday tag using pop dots.  I love that it was quick & easy, but looks beautiful. Enjoy!

It's A Good Day When…

I just love this picture! My sister sent it to me, and could not resist a little mixed media to display at my desk in work.  It's hard to see in the picture but there's even a flying monkey in the bird cage. For the yellow brick road I used a stencil, and modeling paste that I added yellow paint to. The shoes, hour glass, and hat (doesn't  really show in the pic) are Hallmark mini ornaments.  This project was as much fun to put together as it was hunting for the embellishments.

On to my Tim Holtz tag for March...

Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2014 - Feburary

This months Tim's technique included stencils and embossing. Not wanting to duplicate the exact tag I used some of Tim's techniques and the supplies I had on hand.  For the background I used a doily stencil, inked it with Distress inks and embossed it using Ranger Frosted Crystal embossing powder. I didn't have chalk or red Distress Glitter so I embossed my saying with silver embossing powder, and cut the heart from a scrap of glitter paper I had in my stash.  Hope you enjoy the tag. It was fun to do and not at all difficult.  And, best of all I got it done before my company arrived for the Super Bowl party.

Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2014 - January

This year I've decided to take part in the Tim Holtz monthly tag challenge. This month I didn't use the technique shown, but I did "Remember the now."

This month my sister participated in the Run Disney Marathon Weekend at Disney World.  It was her first half marathon, and her goal was to finish. She finished the race in 3 hours and 27 minutes, and as she crossed the finished my family and her two girls were there to cheer her on.

It's Been A While

Finding the time to regularly post here has been one of my biggest challenges this past year. Hopefully, this year will be better. I have however, had time to work on a couple of projects that I think turned out really well, and I'd like to share them.

The first one I made for my sister-in-law who was attending a no wrap wedding shower.  She wanted to cover her gift in clear cello wrap since it consisted of multiple items, and a card just wasn't going to do the trick.  I had just gotten a new Julie Nutting doll stamp, and it was perfect for a gift tag.
I cut the tag on my Cricut using the Bags, Boxes and Tags cartridge. Then I used Tim Holtz distress inks to color the background, and stamped some flourishes on.  For the Bride's dress I used Diamond Stickles on the top and her headband, added some flowers, and done. This was really easy, fun to do, and looked great on the gift.

Since I got into Mixed Media this year I purchased a Tim Holtz configuration book.  It sat on a shelf for months. I would look at it and cringe thinking, "What am I going to do with this?" While organizing my room I found pictures from a family vacation we had taken at the Jersey Shore.  It took me a while to complete, but it was worth the time and effort.

This is the front

The back

Till next time…..
