Flowers. That's what this week was about. Loose flowers, first we penciled them onto the pages, then we painted and not necessarily in the lines. When the pages dried I went over my original lines with a marker. Oh, did I mention we had a 20 minute time limit.

Art Journaling Class
In August my sister and I had the pleasure of attending an all day class with Dina Wakley. Our mission for the day was to complete our own journal pages. This included binding the pages into a book.
For the past two years I've been art journaling with Donna Downey. Since Dina's technique is very different from Donna's it was fun to just do something different. When journaling with Donna the fatter your journal is the better. This journal is flatter with lots of layers that allow for lots of writing making your journal ever evolving as you add your words to the pages.
For this book we focused on layers using paint, texture paste, stencils, stamps, and paint pens. Since I am very messy when it comes to my art I was covered in color up to my elbows, and as you can see from the pictures below we used a lot of colors.

Inspiration Wednesday - Week 18
Woo Hoo! A collage week.
When I started these classes with Donna I never thought I'd be saying that. But, I do love pages with texture and these have lots. This time I used super heavy gesso. I also got to go through my junk box for trinkets to smash into the gesso.
After slathering the super heavy gesso on the pages I finally got to use that chipboard I've been saving for I don't know how long. After the pages dried, which took about 24 hours I made a Burnt Umber glaze and painted both pages. After about a minute I wiped the glaze off. I love the way the glaze stuck in the nooks and crannies on the pages. These pages are one of my favorites so far this year.

Inspiration Wednesday - Week 17
I'm still catching up on my blog posts for August. For this project our mission was to create a picture using pieces of washi tape. It was like Donna knew we all had a box of the stuff that wasn't getting used.
I got my inspiration from some of the flowers I created in Donna's Abstract Flowers class. The pages were way more fun to complete than I thought they would be. Once I got started I couldn't wait to get it done.
